Concept art for the Employers in madness: Project Nexus

The Employers are powerful beings that exist in a higher realm. They watch over Nevada and were the ones to create the first residents of it, being the creators of the G01 (Generation 01) nevadians. Examples of said G01's are limited, but they include Phobos and the grunt stuck within The Artifact. They are also the Benefactor of, and appear to command Hank's co-operation, and oppose the work of Project Nexus. It should be noted that The Auditor is one of them.

The Employers do not appear in person in Madness: Project Nexus (Classic), but their presence is felt through Hank. In the opening cutscene of Episode 1, Hank holds up a note from the Employers instructing him to rescue Sanford and Deimos, then destroy the modern incarnation of Project Nexus.

The Employers are slated to appear, at least indirectly, in MADNESS: Project Nexus. Once again Hank appears to be in their employ, having been ordered to shut down the remnants of Project Nexus in Nexus City. Several members of MERC are aware of the Employers. Notably, they accuse Sanford and Deimos of being "more Employer goons", but Sanford himself does not recognize the name. Dialogue during the final mission, The Rush, implies the Employers may not be entirely mortal, or may have some relationship with the Higher Powers.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: Unknown, at least likely 2-B, possibly High 2-A+

Name: The Employers

Origin: Madness Combat

Gender: Unknown, likely Inapplicable

Age: Unknown

Classification: The primordial beings and custodians of Nevada

Powers and Abilities: Likely all the abilities of The Auditor, Non-Human Physiology, Immortality (At Least Type 1; refers to Christoff as a mortal), Higher Dimensional Existence (Implied to exist in a higher realm), Primordial Entity Physiology, Cosmic Awareness (Seem to be aware of events that happen in Nevada without being there), likely Acausality (type 4), Social Influencing (Are known throughout Nevada and are considered gods by most), Life Manipulation (Created the Generation 01 Nevadans), Weapon Mastery and/or Creation (can create weapons, such as a sword made by the employers used by Phobos), Darkness Manipulation and Lightning Manipulation (Seen in game when they appear), Body Control (When they appear in game, they originally resembled strange, floating dark masses until they gained forms), Dimensional Travel (Can travel to Nevada, despite not living there), possibly Unholy Manipulation (They are worshipped by a demonic cult in the Arena Mode), Conceptual Manipulation and Soul Manipulation (Stygian, an Employer, was directly stated to guide peoples souls through the Mortal Coil, with Nevadan souls, called S-3LF, being concepts of what they do and feel), Incorporeality (The Employers, such as the Auditor, are all living portals to their own dimensions), and likely far more

Attack Potency: Unknown, likely Multiversal (Scales to Phobos, who was attempting to become an Employer), possibly High Multiversal+ (Implied to exist in a higher realm. This is because it has been stated that the Employers will "Descend unto Nevada" Note that when they actually appear in game, they appear from the ground via a portal of darkness, implying that they meant that they exist in a higher plane of sorts. They have also been stated to watch over Nevada and are called Dark Angels, once again alluding to them possibly existing in a higher plane. Krinkels compared the Madness universe to the "Infinite cosmos" when answering a question about how Tricky went insane from the Improbability Drive, though the statement if vague. According to Krinkels on Curiouscat, he directly describes the Employers to be on a universal scale, with the madness universe (Or the plane of existence Nevada exists in) having "infinite of what could be" which likely suggests the Nevadan universe has infinite possibilities or something similar)
