The Chest is a titular block in Terraria. It functions exactly how you would expect, storing many types of items, coming in many different materials.
However, there is an abnormal effect when one attempts to store even a single item in the chest. The Chest becomes virtually indestructible to all forms of attack and explosive force. Even mods with literal infinity cannot even scratch the chest.
It can therefore be assumed the chest, is simply a god of unparalleled proportion, with power beyond all reason.
