Summary[]
The Pawn is the weakest and most common piece in a game of chess. It is a soldier who serves under the white or black King in a war against pieces of the opposite color. It can move one vacant square forward (two squares on its first turn) and attack by moving one square diagonally forward to an occupied square.

Weaknesses: The Pawn's movement is limited to moving directly forwards and attacking diagonal pieces. It cannot step to the side, move to an occupied square directly in front of it, or move backwards. If its King is in immediate danger, the Pawn is not allowed to make any move which would not get the King out of check. If its King is captured, the Pawn will surrender.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Movement: The Pawn moves forward by one square. On its first turn, the Pawn may move two squares forward. If the square directly in front of the pawn is occupied, it cannot move in this fashion.
- Capture: If a square diagonally in front of the pawn is occupied by an enemy, the Pawn can move to that square to attack that enemy.
- Promotion: If the pawn successfully reaches the end of the board opposite to where it started, it is promoted to a Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight.
- Movement: The Knight moves in any direction in an "L" shape, moving by two squares in any direction and then one square to the side of its path.
- Jump: Knights are the only piece in the game capable of jumping over other pieces. Most pieces are blocked if there is another piece in their path, forcing them to remain in place or capture the enemy. The Knight, on the other hand, can jump over other pieces, ignoring any piece between its starting point and its destination.
- Capture: The Knight, as well as every other piece in the game aside from the Pawn, moves to capture enemies in the same manner it moves normally. If the Knight lands on a square occupied by an enemy, it will attack that enemy.
