“ | My name? It's quite simple. I am what I am — nothing more, nothing less. There is no hidden symbolism behind it; it directly reflects my function within this reality. Whenever something happens without apparent cause or request, I am the one who asked for it beforehand. |

Summary[]
Doctor Who Asked, better known as "The One Who Asked," is one of the most enigmatic and intriguing entities encountered by wanderers of The Backrooms.
Doctor Who Asked wears a brown overcoat, a dark blue suit, and a red tie loosely wrapped under a white-collared shirt. He appears human and typically presents himself in an extravagant manner during his random appearances, either with his flamboyant hair blowing dramatically in the wind or with a highly serious and surprised expression. Despite his human-like appearance, he has repeatedly been described as capable of performing feats that defy human limitations, such as literally reversing entire events or awkward moments solely through his presence, acting as a sudden "maintenance" of reality.
Doctor Who Asked often appears spontaneously during conversations or situations where a person declares something and another responds with "Who asked?" At this moment, the Doctor will abruptly manifest, characteristically stating, "I asked." He usually addresses the debaters directly; should anyone interfere with his statement, he will simply choose to disintegrate the offender without hesitation. The Doctor tends to intervene in any instance of belittlement or gratuitous hatred, reversing actions he deems unnecessary.
Powers and Stats[]
Tier: High 1-A
Name: Doctor Who Asked, Nameless (Exists as an ineffable foundation that sustains reality)
Origin: Backrooms Freewriting
Gender: Male. Inapplicable
Age: Inapplicable
Classification: Transcendental Entity. Symbolic Personification. Ineffable Foundation
Powers and Abilities:
- Abstract Existence (Type 1 - Transcendental entities exist as symbolic embodiments of their own ineffable units holding complex and abstract concepts with their characters being mere emanations of themselves. These characters exist purely as reducible symbols of the fundamentals, such that they can only be overcome by higher meanings.[1] These units are indescribable core that sustain reality and exist beyond intelligible reality and cannot be explained conceptually, being purely self-referential and self-transcendent. Doctor Who Asked exists as one of these ineffable entities representing and sustaining concepts such as order, stability, coherence, narrative cohesion and being a ‘core reality’.[2])
- Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 3 & 2 - They exist as ineffable bases that are fundamentally apart from ideas such as 'hierarchies' based on concepts such as beyond and transcendence, as they are all contained within the self-referential scope of the concept of 'transcend'. They do not transcend the concept, they just cannot be defined by it. Which makes them truly inaccessible to any God-like entity such as Chara, Omega Architect, etc.[2])
- Acausality (Type 5 - As an embodiment of an essential ineffable foundation of reality, Doctor Who Asked like others cannot be defeated by traditional means and can only be overcome by another embodiment of a greater meaning, and even if they are defeated their essence remains untouched and is truly immutable.[1] They exist apart from the concept of transcendence and cannot be affected by transcendental powers such as those of Chara or other god-like entities trapped in that concept.[2])
- Transduality (Type 4 - They support all of reality, including all of its logical frameworks and all of the layers of the concept of transcendence that include beings beyond the authors, that exist beyond the state of "canonical" and "non-canonical" with the canonical state containing everything that can be written as well as all logical states of classical and non-classical logic. And with non-canonical being everything outside the text existing outside any binary, multivalued and infinitevalued states.)
- Nigh-Omnipotence (They operate fundamentally outside the scope of transcendence by being likened to metaphysical axioms that underpin reality. Their abilities are more fundamental than god-like powers like "impossibly broken abilities", "layered resistances" and "anti-narrative traits". They aren't bounded by concepts like "beyond" or "transcend", existing externally to the ladder/hierarchy itself, which is limited by the concept of transcendence.[2] Their powers do not work limited to simple power frameworks, encompassing all principles, not being raw power, but something fundamental similar to philosophy and narrative dominance.[3])
- Plot Manipulation (They can easily overwrite entities like Chara within self-contained narrative styles, although these can still break free, the entities still have full control over the narrative.[2] Their powers operate on deeply metanarrative levels, with them only being able to be defeated by greater meanings or things that must happen.[1])
- Existence Erasure (Their battles are purely abstract whose mere explanation is sufficient to unravel the mind. And being able to retroactively erase from existence a concept more fundamental than an emaction, the method by which such an act is done is incomprehensible.[3])
- Immortality (Type 1, 8, 9 & 11 - Everyone in reality has their own control over what is written, implying that such a being remains alive as long as their plot is under their control, and can only be killed if their plot is overwritten. Their metanarratives are fundamental, that is, they cannot be overcome by entities attached to the concept of transcendence.[2] But their characters exist as emanations of their own ineffable units. And they cannot be overwritten in the traditional way, only being killed by higher meanings and things that must happen.[1])
Attack Potency: High Outerverse level+ (They exist as an ineffable foundation that sustains all reality and all its concepts with the characters linked to such ineffable units being mere symbolic emanations.[1] And with their powers reaching all logically and illogically possible worlds, including all planes of existence as well as with the authors' own world being just one among them, and with the whole being comparable to it already containing within itself its actions and all versions of it.[4] They do not exist beyond or on a transcendent level superior to the whole of reality, but exist fundamentally within it, serving as central realities. This makes them fundamentally more all-embracing than all logically possible worlds, serving as an ineffable foundation for the intelligible world, as an all-encompassing backdrop.[2])
Speed: Nigh-Omnipresence (They are at all points simultaneously, including the past and the future, they transcend the concept of metanarrative time, covering even the space before the formation or writing of a narrative. Their movements are purely symbolic and are only ways of reducing their confrontations in a way that is intelligible to the reader.[1])
Lifting Strength: Irrelevant
Striking Strength: High Outerverse level+ (Transcendental entities as symbolic personifications of ineffable units. They do not operate on concepts with physical force, since all the battles between them are purely symbolic and metanarrative.[1] Their forces are comparable to pure syntax.[2] And their fighting are purely abstract, with the very attempt to understand them being enough to unravel the human brain, with their victories being only about "something that must happen", which implies that their struggles are not won by the stronger, only by what should happen.[3])
Durability: High Outerverse level+
Stamina: Irrelevant
Range: High Outerversal+
- The TARDIS: The Doctor is always accompanied by his "TARDIS," a telephone booth-like structure with impossible properties. This machine is capable of teleportation, manipulating reality, and traveling through non-linear time, even bypassing the absence of temporal dimensions by reaching the "past" or "future" of spaces that supposedly have neither. The TARDIS seems to be a personal creation of the Doctor, containing countless abilities and technologies — far too many to list — but it is evident that all its power and design originate solely from him. TARDIS was created utilizing every scientific, physical, metaphysical, pata-physical, and impossible principle imaginable — and unimaginable. It serves as an absolute stabilizer in a reality where the impossible and the omnipotent are common occurrences. Through my capabilities beyond conventional frameworks.
